About Putnam Park Road Course

Putnam Park Road Course sits on 202 rolling acres in Mount Meridian, Indiana, about 35 miles west of Indianapolis, and it exists because one man got tired of not being able to get track dates.

Built Out of Necessity

In 1990, Richard L. Diasio found himself struggling to get dates to drive at Indianapolis Raceway Park. As a major figure in the Indianapolis Porsche car club, he wanted a place where amateur and club racers could enjoy their machines safely, away from public highways and open to the schedule club racers actually needed.

Rather than wait for someone else to solve the problem, Diasio funded the solution himself. Putnam Park was constructed in 1991 on 202 rolling acres, and the track opened that Labor Day weekend with kart racing hosted by the Indianapolis Kart Club.

Designed to Be Seen

Diasio didn't just want a fast track — he wanted a track that immersed everyone in the action. He designed Putnam Park so the entire circuit could be viewed in its entirety from the pits, keeping both participants and crews connected to the racing at every point on the course.

That vision shaped a 1.78-mile, 10-turn road course that's stayed true to its original purpose for over three decades. Multiple configurations, ranging from a short 0.528-mile layout to the full 1.87-mile long course, give the track flexibility for everything from kart racing to full club events.

A Home for Car Clubs

The Indianapolis Corvette Club, the Hoosier Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America, and Track Time Performance Driving School were among the first groups to use the new circuit. That same year, the Central Indiana Region chapter of the Porsche Club of America ran a driving school under Diasio's own direction — bringing the track full circle back to the community that inspired it.

Today, Putnam Park remains open year-round for club events, professional team testing, and track rentals for auto and motorcycle groups, carrying forward the same mission Diasio set out with more than 30 years ago: give club racers a safe, fast, and challenging place to run.
