Speed's New Hope Indiana Dragway is an eighth-mile concrete drag strip in Owen County, near Spencer, Indiana, and it has been putting racers through the lights for more than 50 years.
The track's current family took ownership in 2019, stepping in to carry forward a facility with over five decades of history already behind it. That kind of longevity is rare for a small-town drag strip — plenty of tracks this size open, run for a few seasons, and quietly fade out. New Hope kept going.
The strip runs an eighth-mile concrete surface, which puts it in a different category than the longer quarter-mile strips most bracket racers are used to. Concrete surfaces are known for consistent traction, and the shorter distance makes New Hope a tight, all-out sprint from the tree to the stripe.
