About Hangtime MX Park

Hangtime MX Park sits just outside Akron, Indiana, and it's one half of a family motocross legacy that goes back to 1982.

A Family Business Built on Racing

Reads Racing was established by Larry and Joyce Read, who set out to build a program that families could enjoy together, not just a track for competitive racing alone. That family-first approach has carried through generations of the Read family running the business.

Their granddaughter, Lori Hastings, has carried the torch forward, and the philosophy hasn't changed. Families form bonds that last long after their racing days, with riders who grew up racing at Reads tracks now bringing their own kids out to race alongside them, or in some cases, watching their kids race in their place.

Built for Every Rider

Hangtime MX Park runs a 1.5-mile motocross track loaded with the obstacles that make the sport exciting — whoops, doubles, and a massive 110-foot tabletop jump that keeps riders airborne until they land at the far end. A separate peewee track gives beginner riders a place to learn before tackling the big course.

The park was built with both beginner and experienced riders in mind, and that approach has paid off. Reads tracks have launched racers who went on to the national and professional motocross scene, and the facility has hosted schools with former pros like Mike Alessi, along with visits from names like Guy Cooper, Ricky Johnson, and even NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.

Big Weekends and Community Racing

Hangtime hosts special events on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends that draw big crowds for extended Friday-through-Monday racing, awards ceremonies, and family activities. Alongside its sister track, Trojan MX in Pierceton, Hangtime runs regular rounds of the Indiana State MX Championship Series and the popular Buff Daddy Championship each season.
